All NAVLE candidates will be able to access their results at the navle Score Portal. This is the website to access if you are planning to take the NAVLE.
The NAVLE test is required to obtain licensure for veterinary medicine practice in North America. It includes 360 multiple-choice clinically relevant questions. It is administered throughout North America and certain overseas sites at computer testing centers operated by Prometric. It is available twice per year, in November/December or April.
High NAVLE pass rates
The AVMA council on education expects that at minimum 80% of graduating senior students taking the NAVLE will have passed by the time they graduate. Since 2001, LSU veterinarian students have achieved a pass rate that is consistently higher than this benchmark.
It's an exhausting test
NAVILE is composed of six sections, each with 60 questions. The total number of questions is 360. It is a multiple choice exam and is done on the computer.

ICVA offers practice assessment and a NAVLE Tutorial to help you prepare. Zuku Review and VetPrep offer exam preparation services that include practice assessments and NAVLE questions.
The NAVLE scores you receive after the test has been completed won't be immediately available. It's important that you keep this in mind while you are preparing for the exam. Do not panic about your NAVLE scores. Wait patiently, then use your NAVLE score to identify the topics that need more attention.
The NAVLE can be retaken as many times you wish, but your fourth and fifth attempts must take place within five years of the first attempt. You should allow yourself ample time to study if you decide to take the exam again.
To retake the NAVLE test, you will need to register with ICVA and follow their reexamination instructions. This includes registering for a different testing window.
Your NAVLE results are released via a web portal about one month after the end of the testing window. This is especially true for the autumn testing window, which produces more accurate results.

The NAVLE is a criterion-referenced test (also known as content-based tests), so your score is determined by an expert veterinarian panel who evaluates the difficulty of each question and decides whether it meets a particular standard. This standard is then applied to all forms of the NAVLE, using a process called equating, to ensure that your score remains constant despite variations in item difficulty between different tests.
NAVLE scores can be converted to a scale of 200-800 with a minimum score of 425. While some licensing boards might ask for a different scale, they will convert your score to that scale. However, the actual passing standard remains the same across all jurisdictions.
If you're interested to retake NAVLE, you may request approval through DELPROS. Log in to the e-License Dashboard. Click on "Service Request." After approval, you will receive an email notification.
